Twice Perting l.t.d and Second Life
Second Life is a 3-D virtual world launched June 23, 2003 and developed by Linden Lab, a free downloadable client program called the Second Life Viewer enables its users, called "Residents", to interact with each other through motional avatars, providing an advanced level of a social network service. Residents can explore, meet other residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, and create and trade items (virtual property) and services with one another.
The 27th of February 2008, Perting officially opened a place in Second Life, becoming the first University Simulated Enterprise operating in this online 3D virtual world.
Second Life Impressions:
Perting’s offices are featured as: Departments -Trade Office, Implementation Office and Meetings Office; Forum Area; International projects exhibition; and the New Fashion Perspective. Second Life residents can visit Perting’s departments, ask for information and can join the Perting group. Within the Perting 3D business space is located the offices where, with the mentoring support of the tutors, the participants can receive visitors, and carry out the office activities. Conferences and lectures take place within the Forum Area. The International Projects Exhibition area displays the initiatives, in which the simulated enterprise participates.
The Second Life interactive tools enables students to replicate the normal activities that are conducted in "real life" by an enterprise: customer orders (sales), transfer of documents from one office to another, meetings, purchase and development of products within the Second Life environment – for example purchase and build Perting’s 3D building, research and development of contacts with others participants involved in education, publicize the activities of Perting, creating a multimedia integration and learning environment, create and manage events such as meetings, seminars and classes using this median.
The Second Life experience allows students to transfer the theory they have learned in traditional courses (knowledge) into practical activities (know how) and acquire a new entrepreneurship culture by developing competitive skills and professionalism in the ICT world.
